"Panda" Chicago Premiere Party Set for Sat. March 23, 2013
The premiere party for "Panda: Tale of a Gay Asian Bear" is set for Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 8 p.m. at @mosphere, 5355 N. Clark Street in Chicago. “Panda” follows Tim, a broader set, gay, Asian man who's realizing his current relationship is ending. In the face of that, he steps into the world of gay bears, hoping that with a little liquid courage to find a new love—or at least a distraction. In this panda’s world, truths surface about the meaning of attraction and what the gay mainstream in America deems beautiful.
On that day, March 23, GAM-TV will post "Panda" live online at www.gamtvusa.com (click the Webisodes tab on our Home page) along with a second webisode called “The Sister Show,” a musical-variety performance taped at Asians and Friends Chicago’s annual Chinese New Year’s dinner earlier this year.
Admission is free to the premiere party in Chicago, with DVDs from GAM-TV's library of romantic comedies, musicals, documentaries and interviews on sale. Proceeds will assist AIDS-awareness charity School Street Arts Movement, www.schoolstreetarts.org. A permiere party in New York is currently being coordinated. The date, time and location will be announced soon.
The Chicago event is co-hosted by Asians and Friends Chicago (www.afchicago.org), a social organization for gay Asian men and those who appreciate Asian cultures. AFC celebrates 28 years of existence and is a proud inductee of the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame.
